National cloud seeding research center has set a workgroup called “investigation of the scientific aspects of using UAV in weather modification” in order to investigate the specifications, advantages, difficulties, limitations, applications and rules in using UAV in cloud seeding activities. Technical and professional studies in the design and construction of the cloud seeding UAV named “Anahita” has begun on 2015 and now this UAV is in its final stages of construction.
Anahita UAV is equipped with the atmospheric parameters measurement sensors, navigation equipment, camera, and communication links, and it is able to inject the cloud seeding agents using flares from the wings, and also it is able to inject silver iodide pyro-patrons. So it is capable of conducting cloud seeding operations from the cloud bottom, within the cloud and from the above of the cloud. Among the other capabilities of this UAV, is to be used as airborne laboratory and monitoring different atmospheric levels.
